General Labor: Cylinder Painter (Part-Time) – Grand Rapids, MI

We are looking to fill a Cylinder Painter/General Labor position with a candidate that will be expected to maintain the appearance of cylinders in the Grand Rapids fill plants. This position will also, back up other positions in the plant as needed.

The Cylinder Painter/General Labor position has a base hourly wage with piecework component and will be part of the quarterly bonus program the company offers to all employees.  Flexible hours with up to full-time work in the summer and part-time work for the rest of the year.  This is a great opportunity for someone who is in school looking for a job to earn good money and flexible enough to accommodate school schedules that change frequently.

Major Functions

  • Painting cylinders.
  • Shot blasting cylinders.
  • Refurbishing liquid cylinder exteriors.
  • Possibly some back up of other plant workers.

Qualifications Needed

  • Communications – able to understand and carry out oral instructions, be able to read and carry out written instructions, able to read and verify things such as numbers and labels.
  • Physical – ability to move heavy objects (60 lbs.), ability to move cylinders around the plant.
  • Aptitude – able to work as a team player with your supervisor and fellow employees, take pride in the quality of your work, and good with basic math.
  • Must be at least 16 years old (18 years old to operate the shot blasting machine).

Welding and Automation Equipment Service Technician – Grand Rapids, MI

This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining welding and cutting equipment. This position would require automation knowledge and have a capability to perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) and general repair on automation equipment. Service work primarily includes performing annual machine calibrations as needed, general maintenance on company owned equipment, diagnosing services problems with broken machines and making the repairs that are needed, ordering parts, and completing paperwork required to bill and provide repair estimates. The majority of work is done in house at Purity’s location in Grand Rapids with some service needing to be performed at customer locations. Travel to customers is very limited with little to no overnight travel needed. This is a full time 40 hour per week position with opportunity for overtime hours as needed based on customer demand.

Major Functions:

  • Perform service work on customer and company owned equipment both in site and at customer locations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on automation equipment.
  • Perform annual equipment calibrations as needed.
  • Maintain the Company’s fleet of rental welding equipment.
  • Order Parts from vendors as needed to complete repairs.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for customer billing and repair estimates.
  • Attend trainings and service schools as needed.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Able to understand and carryout written and oral instruction.
  • Able to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems, understand schematic drawings, and work with required industry computers/technology to diagnose problems and fix machinery.
  • Comfortable speaking to customers regarding needed service work.
  • Able to work at customer sites and drive the Company’s service vehicle.
  • Able to work well with other technicians, supervisors, company salespersons, and customers.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed based on customer demand.
  • High school degree required, with additional mechanical/electrical training and schooling preferred.
  • Prior electrical, mechanical, automation, and small engine repair experience preferred.

Local Route Driver – Saginaw & Wixom, MI

We are looking for two fulltime Local Route Delivery Drivers, one in Saginaw, Michigan and another in Wixom, Michigan. As a Delivery Driver, you are responsible for the handling of compressed gas cylinders and other inventory delivered to our customers.  You will also have face-to-face interactions with our customers as part of the delivery process.

This position will have a local delivery route and deliver industrial gas cylinders and industrial supplies. The local route will be daytime hours and get you home each night (no overnights).

Major functions:

  • Deliver industrial gas cylinders and industrial supplies daily to customers.
  • Process billing paperwork in an accurate and neat manner.
  • Load, unload, prepare, inspect, and operate a delivery vehicle.
  • Accurately account for all inventory leaving and what is returned.
  • Attend periodic compliance and safety trainings.
  • Follow DOT regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required.
  • CDL Class A with Hazmat Endorsement highly preferred, but will train the right candidate who is willing and able to obtain these credentials.
  • Ability to move heavy objects (60lbs or more).
  • Ability to operate forklifts and tractors in a variety of weather and traffic conditions.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • High school degree.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and physical.
